About
The Wordlock® Story
Wordlock®, Inc. was founded in 2002 to create innovative products for the consumer. The Wordlock® is a combination lock that uses easy to remember words instead of numbers. The product was conceived by Todd Basche because no one in his family could remember the many numerical combinations on padlocks around his house. Todd went shopping to find a lock that used words instead of numbers. When he couldn't find one, the Wordlock® was born, and his family is eternally grateful. So are the many customers who have been buying Wordlock®s for over 2 years exclusively at Staples stores. The Wordlock® products will soon be available at all major retail stores as well. Wordlock® is a registered trademark of Wordlock®, Inc. Protected by U.S. patent # 6,621,405 and other patents pending world wide.
Words are our most natural form of communication and easier to remember than a series of numbers. Wordlock® understands this and has created a family of amazing products that innovate the combination lock category by taking a standard combination lock and replacing the numbers with letters. The patented design has created favorite letter combinations, and removes inappropriate words from the dials. The travel lock, bike lock, and padlock are secure, made of hardened steel, and are used on luggage, bikes, lockers, and anywhere a standard numerical lock might appear. Wordlock® travel locks are Travel Sentry® approved.
As the push button phone gradually replaced the dial, combination locks that use words are the next generation of security. Easy to set, never forget, Wordlock® products are secure, and all locks are easily reset when you want to change your combination to a new word. Travelers can choose from 10,000 letter combinations to set their password on their luggage lock, while the Locker lock provides 100,000 combinations.
Wordlock® was one of the top 100 new inventions in the Invent Now America competition hosted by the Patent and Trademark Office and QVC. Wordlock® was selected as the grand prize winner in StaplesŪ first-ever Invention Quest™ contest. An expert panel of judges, along with more than 147,000 online votes cast by America, selected Wordlock® as the #1 product.
The Wordlock® is simple, easy to use, and creates an amazing innovation to a category that hasn't seen a significant change since the 1800's. Wordlock® brings travel into the 21st century with the newest combination in travel locks. Words are easy to remember, numbers are easy to forget, and Wordlock® is unforgettable.
